If you are not familar with the name Ben Heckendorn is the mastermind behind the XBox laptop and the Wii laptop.

Now his latest the Commodore 64 Laptop, here is his offical reasoning as to why you should have a Commodore 64 laptop

This is a fully functional Commodore 64 laptop using actual hardware,
specifically the C64C motherboard which was one of the last and
smallest revisions. It uses a Gamecube power supply in place of the
original power brick.

It's much greener than using the original configuration because you:

a) don't need a CRT
b) don't need a slow, power-wasting disk drive
c) everything is powered by a single power supply.

Also this is one less Commodore 64 that will end up in a landfill,
wasting away to nothingness after once being the greatest 8-bit
computer of all time, 2nd only to possibly the Atari 800!

Plus all of the ribbon cabling was recycled from old computers - it's cheap, if not free, and doesn't goto waste.

And I have to say I totally agree, if I had an old Commodore 64 laying around I would totally make it in to a lappy, if only to take it to the local coffee shop and run some BASIC. And believe it or not I also stumbled across a Commodore 64 BASIC guide! Now you have no excuse not to build this.

Truly it should. We need to rid ourselves of these morons and make the
world a better place. We can start with the stupid criminals, after an
idiotic move by a by one of these fools they get the "stupid implant."
A fast and exceedingly painful procedure where an anti-stupid chip is
implanted into, what every body part we decide. This implant will give
off "small" pulses of electricity, say around 2,000 volts at 5 amps, to
alert said user of the stupid action that is about to be committed.
Below are my recommendations for guinea pigs in the Stupid Implant
Project.

The Chatty Bank Robber-
This gentleman decided he did not get enough money after he robbed the
bank so he called them up on his cell phone demanding more money.

Counterfeiting Jammed- Note to self - remove counterfeit money from printer before sending in for repair.

Driving While Stupid-
This one, oh man, teenager stuck and killed a cyclist last week because
they were trying to send text messages while he was driving. As if
talking on the phone while driving isn't bad enough, now we have to
look out for this too?

This strikes me as a little funny too, as
I am reading over these stories I wonder... Is technology making us
dumber? Or is it just another case of the right equipment in the wrong
hands?
